Castle Doctrine legislation passes the state HouseOn Tuesday, the state House passed House Bill 40, the Castle Doctrine legislation, which will now be considered by the state Senate. Here is why the bill had my support....

I support lawsuit abuse reform legislation - I have signed on as a co-sponsor of House Bill 1, the Fair Share Act, which the state House passed Monday.

A centerpiece of this effort is the Fair Share Act (House Bill 1), which reforms the state’s joint and several liability law by ensuring that defendants found negligent or liable for an injury are responsible for only their share of the damages.

Creating a More Job-Friendly Environment in PA

Additional Benefits of Lawsuit Abuse Reform

Lawsuit abuse reform:

Is all about JOBS! Keeping them, creating them and attracting more of them. Loss of businesses equals loss of jobs.

• Can significantly reduce the cost of doing business and practicing medicine within the Commonwealth.

• Stabilizes liability insurance rates for health care providers and businesses.

• Helps consumers by keeping costs down.

I support this lawsuit abuse reform legislation, which also has the support of more than 40 organizations representing thousands of businesses, local governments, hospitals and medical professionals.

This legislation has previously passed in the House and Senate, but was vetoed by our last governor. Our new governor is strongly on board.
