Following Governor Wolf’s recent statement that he fully supports federal efforts to place large numbers of middle-eastern refugees in Pennsylvania, Rep. Dave Maloney (R-Berks) is asking citizens to weigh in on the issue. Rep. Maloney said he has deep concerns about the lack of a thorough screening process to check the background of these refugees and feels this situation may pose serious risks to the security of the Commonwealth.

Maloney's Child Protection Bill Signed Into Law - 5/14/2014
Legislation designed to close a loophole that holds school employees to a different standard regarding child abuse reporting and investigation has been signed into law. House Bill 434, now Act 45 of 2014 eliminates the distinction between school employees and all other mandated reporters of child abuse. Prime sponsor Rep. Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Companies are benefitting from the expansion of a state program that helps them maintain and upgrade their facilities and equipment. Rep. Rep. Maloney Comments on House Passage of His Homestead Exemption Expansion Bill - 10/16/2013
Legislation that would amend the state’s constitution to allow the Homestead property tax exclusion to be expanded from 50% to 100% was passed unanimously by the Pennsylvania House on Tuesday. Rep. Dave Maloney (R-Berks), prime sponsor of House Bill 125, said the Homestead Exemption must be expanded in order to constitutionally move property tax elimination legislation forward. In order to amend the state’s Constitution, the bill must be passed by the General Assembly in two consecutive legislative sessions, and subsequently receive approval from the voters of the Commonwealth as a ballot referendum. Rep. Maloney Comments on Committee Passage of Package of Child Protection Bills - 6/13/2013
A package of legislation designed to modernize Pennsylvania’s child abuse laws was approved by the House Children and Youth Committee recently in Harrisburg. The six bill package was crafted to reflect the recommendations of the Task Force on Child Protection, and addresses the definition of abuse, mandated reporters, reporting procedures, and the appeals process. Rep. Dave Maloney (R-Berks), prime sponsor of House Bill 434, said that in order to protect all children, reporting standards must be consistent across the educational spectrum. Rep. Maloney Comments on House Passage of Budget Bill - 6/12/2013
The Pennsylvania House on Wednesday passed a $28.3 billion spending plan for the 2013-2014 fiscal year. The budget increases state spending by more than $500 million without increasing the burden on Pennsylvania taxpayers. Rep. The 97th annual Pennsylvania Farm Show is underway in Harrisburg. The event is the largest indoor agricultural exposition in the United States, and features more than 6,000 animals, 10,000 competitive exhibits, and 300 commercial exhibitors. Rep. Dave Maloney (R-Berks) said the farm show is a great opportunity for the next generation of farmers to demonstrate their talents. The Farm Show runs through Saturday, January 12.
