PFBC Buries Thousands of Game Fish Alive, Maloney Reports

October 19, 2026

HARRISBURG – On Friday, Oct. 17, Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission crews and land moving equipment were photographed burying thousands of pan fish alive and having it posted on Facebook, drawing the ire of even my Democrat colleagues in the House and Senate, Rep. David Maloney (R-Berks) reported.

Maloney issued the following statement:

“This is one of the most outrageous and hideous acts of cruelty and waste I have come across in my many years on the House Game and Fisheries Committee.

“Let’s think about what is really going on here. If you committed such an offense, how many game law violations and fines would the PFBC slap you with? You would be penniless and possibly in jail. People would hate you.

“To make matters worse, a local bass club offered to move the fish for free. The PFBC rejected that offer. That underscores the lazy and bureaucratic blunders typical of the leadership both the PFBC and Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) in Harrisburg and sets a horrible example of its mission of caring for wildlife.

“And where is our ‘leader’ Gov. Shapiro? He likes to puff out his chest and run around with a PGC hat while telling the sportsmen of Pennsylvania he is their best buddy. But there is not a word out of him regarding the tough issues – corruption and the absolute criminal activity occurring at the PGC and other suspect and thorny issues involving the PFBC.

“I have documented many of my oversight investigations and offered them for criminal investigation to Shapiro while he was attorney general. I have also offered these investigations to our current attorney general for prosecution. The responses? Nothing but dead silence.

“Folks should be very concerned about what is going on. The bureaucrats have “rules” for them and fines and criminal proceedings for you.”
