House Committee Must Honor Women’s History Month, Maloney Says
March 27, 2026
HARRISBURG – As March is Women’s History Month, Rep. David Maloney (R-Berks) yesterday sent a letter to his colleagues on the House Game and Fisheries Committee requesting a committee hearing on behalf of the women who have brought forth allegations of abuse and harassment during their employment at the Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC).
The letter states:
“I know committee members will want to inform themselves and the public about what really goes on inside 2001 Elmerton Ave.,” Maloney said. “I am also requesting the governor be invited to attend as he has consistently pledged to defend ‘women’s rights.’
“He should be interested in reports that handicapped employees had their physical status used against them in an effort to terminate their employment or drive them to quit instead of granting them a simple accommodation as the law requires.
“The Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) remains mired in news reports documenting the PGC's systematic abuse of women in the workplace, described as a ‘toxic work environment in which the human relations department felt emboldened to target employees with harassment while upper management looked the other way.’
“Will House members who have long stood up for women being abused in a toxic workplace speak up now and ask the PGC if the news reports are true? Is evidence of this environment visible within PGC hiring data? Is the commission having difficulty hiring and retaining employees within any specific department?
“On top of its alleged abuse of employees, the PGC requested a waiver from the Senate to be exempt from Act 45, a law which requires the PGC to be open and transparent with its decisions, actions and energy exploration on lands owned by the sportsmen of Pennsylvania.
“While it seems obvious that the agency which holds the record for an ethics violation fine in Pennsylvania would want to be exempt from transparency, it is clear that transparency is more necessary in this agency's case, and our oversight committee must do its due diligence.”
