HARRISBURG – Complaints from Berks County voters not receiving the ballots they had requested are again flowing into Rep. David Maloney’s (R-Berks) district offices this week, just as they had in the previous election.

“Folks who have asked for the Berks County Board of Elections to send them absentee ballots have been calling my office for help,” Maloney said. “All the complaints are similar: the voter requested the absentee ballot but the ballot did not come. Then, the voter called the board of elections directly and, if anyone even answers the phone, the board of elections claims the ballot was sent.Oftentimes, the phone is never even answered.”

Maloney has been critical of the way the county commissioners have handled elections for the past several election cycles. Complaints come to his office over unmonitored ballot drop boxes, voting irregularities and difficulty in obtaining ballots, or even running out of ballots.

“The Berks County Commissioners and the Berks County Board of Elections run the election process in Berks County,” Maloney said. “If residents have issues with ballots and voting and they aren’t getting answers from the election board, they should direct their phones calls and emails to the Berks County Commissioners at 610-478-6136.”
