Maloney to Host Senior Fraud and Theft Prevention Seminar
HARRISBURG – Rep. David Maloney, (R-Berks) invites seniors and their caregivers to attend his upcoming Fraud and Theft Prevention Seminar and take advantage of the information and programs available in Berks County and across the Commonwealth to combat identity theft and scams targeting seniors.
There will be two opportunities for this seminar:

• Wednesday, March 11, 10 a.m., at Keystone Villa Senior Retirement Community, 1180 Benjamin Franklin Highway, Douglassville.

• Wednesday, March 11, 2 p.m., at Walnut Wood Retirement Community, 35 North Walnut St., Boyertown.

“Pennsylvania has the third highest percentage of elderly residents in the United States with nearly 2 million residents over the age of 65,” Maloney said. “Scam artists will seek out such populations with the hope that many of them will be unaware of their methods. These seminars can arm seniors with the knowledge they need to not only avoid becoming a victim, but to spot scams and fraudulent offers and how to report them to the authorities.”

A representative from the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General will conduct the seminar. Topics to be covered include: identity theft, home improvement rip-offs, foreign lottery schemes, telemarketing fraud and sweepstakes scams.

This seminar is free and open to the public.
